Xirokambi is a lively Greek village, nested at the foot of the Taygetos Mountains, 15 km south of Sparta in the Peloponnese. The main square is surrounded by taverns and cafés that are open all year round. Weather permitting, locals and visitors gather under the plane trees for coffee, ouzo, or a Greek meal. The restaurants serve their own (biological) wine and cook with Laconian products.
Xirokambi is home to 1500 inhabitants and houses the town hall of the municipality of Faridos. Shops In and around the village square, you will find bakeries, gift shops, butchers, grocery stores and shops that sell household supplies and stationery. Post office and money The post office is open on weekdays from 7.30 am to 2.00 pm. There is an ATM by the square, where you can draw money. All major banks have branches in Sparta. Health There are several pharmacies and a health centre in Xirokambi. The nearest hospital is in Sparta. Gythio, 25 km south of Xirokambi, is a lively port town with splendid beaches. Climate In Xirokambi the summers are hot and the winters are mild.
